Position Summary:

The Manager of Marketing and Communication is responsible for leadership, planning, management and delivery of  Centennial’s internal and external marketing, communications and promotional activities to meet the College’s business and strategic plan.  Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Manager is accountable for developing and implementing the Colleges annual brand campaign, all advertising and the production of all publications including the management of the annual advertising budget. He/she will be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness and correct use of the College’s identity and brand standards as well as the brand image and reputation.  

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating and advising management across the College of suitable strategies to meet their marketing and communications needs.,
  • Coordinating college-wide marketing and communications throughout the school year to effectively position, project and promote the College image, its programs and services in locally, provincially, nationally and in international educational markets (e.g., Dubai, India, China, South America).
  • Investigates and analyzes all advertising, promotional programs/activities across the college
  • Develops and manages the annual advertising budget, and ensures activities occur as planned within timelines and costs 
  • Plans, leads and manages all aspects of numerous complex projects from through all stages of the project life cycle for key constituents across the college
  • Develops and implements innovative design marketing strategies for a wide range of deliverables aimed at reaching diverse target audiences to meet the College’s strategic mandate.
  • Provides administrative leadership, supervision and technical direction to staff.
  • Researches, writes and edits copy for a variety of specialized College publications, promotional and informational materials
  • Plays a key role in crisis communications, acts as backup to the Director of Marketing Communications during their absence.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Three years diploma/degree in corporate communications, marketing, public relations or  journalism or equivalent combination of education and related and recent progressive experience
  • Minimum of seven years ‘progressive experience in a relevant marketing and/or communications role, preferably within a post-secondary educational institution
  • Extensive project management experience, ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrated management skills with proven experience leading teams, experience leading team in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Specialized knowledge of the standards, principles, practices and methodology of design and communications for preparation of high-quality strategic marketing, materials.
  • Proven financial and resource planning experience to develop/manage department and project budgets
  • Proven creative talents, excellent communication and presentation skills to express messages persuasively and establish context and tone appropriate to the purpose for intended target audiences.
  • Well-developed understanding and commitment for working effectively with cultural diversity issues and for cross-cultural communications to ensure acceptance in the various target communities.
  • Working knowledge and experience of marketing, communication and promotion requirements in an educational setting to ensure that the College continuously maintains a positive image and high visibility with wide variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency using word processing software, knowledge of print production processes, desktop publishing and web/new media design; including several years of experience using related software packages such as Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator)
